It was the first time I was invited by my future wife to attend her family’s summer vacation— 18 individuals under one roof for two weeks. Naturally, as the brand new guest, I brought my camera. A camera gives me something to do, its presence primes my mind even when I’m not holding it. Inspired by the never-ending soundscape of waves and wind, I decided after a few days that I would try to capture the spirit of this trip, and gift it to her family as a “thank you” for allowing me to come into their home and put a camera in their faces. To this day, they still cherish this video and the memories it captures. And, as far as first impressions go, I could’ve done much worse.
